FEDMA held its first hybrid internal meeting since March 2020 and was thrilled to welcome some of its members in person in Brussels.
FEDMA and its members are particularly concerned with the recent update that telemarketing may become opt-in across the EU under ePrivacy if article 16.4 of the proposal is deleted (as suggested in the trilogue negotiations). FEDMA has been following the ePrivacy proposal from the start and will continue engaging with all stakeholders to preserve article 16.4, enabling member states to choose to maintain opt-out systems.
FEDMA continues to support self-regulation and we will be answering the consultation organised by the European Data Protection Board on how GDPR Codes of Conduct can serve as a tool to ensure safe international transfers.
Finally, FEDMA developed a handy factsheet to summarise our view across all relevant digital dossiers. More information will be available soon on our website.
