Reference to national Data Protection laws

The Bulgarian Personal Data Protection Act 2002, which implements the Data Protection Directive 95/46/EO, aims to regulate the protection of physical persons with regard to the processing of their personal data by both automatic and non-automatic means.

On 18 July 2018 the Council of Ministers submitted the Bill for Amendments and Supplements to the Personal Data Protection Act to the Bulgarian Parliament for a vote. The bill, which includes certain national specific provisions within the GDPR derogations (please see e.g. “Children’s Age” above) and also transposes the Police and Criminal Justice Authorities Directive 2016/680, was adopted and published in the State Gazette on 26th February 2019.
