- The Austrian Mail Preference Service (Robinson list) is operated by the Wirtschaftskammer Österreich – WKO (Fachverband Werbung und Marktkommunikation) of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, and it is a suppression file which use constitutes a legal requirement. Only Austrian address publishers and direct marketing distributors get free access to the suppression files (access is not allowed to the general public). It is updated at the beginning of every month. The List currently contains about 120.000 entries (July 2019).

- The E-mail Preference Service is operated by Telecoms regulator: Rundfunk und Telekom Regulierungs-GmbH. It is a service for persons and companies who do not wish to receive promotional e-mail. It is a legal requirement to use the list (Art. 7 of the Austrian E-Commerce Act). According to the E-Commerce Act, only service providers (broad definition) are obliged to comply with the list. Interested parties can have their names entered in this registry free of charge.

The above-mentioned suppression files do not concern collecting of addresses, but the sending of unsolicited advertising. The DPA is not the competent authority in the field of unsolicited mail.
There is no Telephone Preference Service because telemarketing (B2B & B2C) is on an opt-in basis.
