Industry Welcomes Digital Omnibus on AI and Calls for Swift, Simplified Agreement

FEDMA joined a broad coalition of European and international industry associations in publishing a joint industry statement welcoming the European Commission’s Digital Omnibus on AI and calling on EU co‑legislators to swiftly reach a final agreement with regulatory simplification at its core.
As the voice of Europe’s data‑driven marketing sector, FEDMA supports the Commission’s objective to significantly reduce regulatory complexity while ensuring that the AI Act is implemented in a clear, predictable, and innovation‑friendly manner.
Representing companies active across the entire AI value chain, the signatories welcome the alignment emerging between the European Parliament and Member States on key simplification elements, including fixed compliance deadlines for high‑risk AI systems and measures to avoid duplication with existing sectoral legislation. At the same time, it urges policymakers to maintain the ambition of the simplification agenda by introducing targeted adjustments, notably more realistic grace periods for generative AI labelling requirements and a risk‑based approach to registration obligations.
The signatories also reaffirm their support for prohibitions on harmful AI practices, calling for consistency with existing Commission guidance.
As trilogue negotiations progress, the joint statement sends a clear message: simplification is essential to ensure legal certainty, foster innovation, and enable Europe to remain a global leader in trustworthy AI.
