Lawyers’ chancery cheer: Increase of 600% expected in the area of ​​data protection

21st November 2016 – According to a new study, the volume of data protection disputes could rise six-fold over the next five years.

The study was initiated and implemented by the School of International Arbitration at the Queen Mary University of London and the law firm of Pinsent Masons. It found that disputes ranging from data protection concerns up to 80% in the telecommunications, media and technology industry (TMT) to 2021 and up to 79% in security breaches.

In the past five years, data protection disputes have constituted only 13% of the TMT disputes. As a result, the forecast number increases by around 600%. Read more
