FEDMA elects new Board and reaffirms its objectives![]()
The Federation of European Direct and Interactive Marketing, which is the unique voice of interactive and relationship marketing in Brussels, at the European level, held its annual assembly on Tuesday, 28 April. Emma Lawson remains as chairman, supported by Imelda Vital (Amway) as Treasurer, Zina Manda (Mardev), Neil Matthews (Acxiom), Ivan Vandermeersch (Belgian DMA) and Dieter Weng (German DMA) were elected as Vice-Chairmen.
A special working party to review the fast evolution of interactive – relationship – digital marketing was set up, chaired by Ara Cinar (Bertelsman). Direct, interactive, relationship marketing is facing a number of major issues at European level. Firstly, data protection and consumer privacy questions have encouraged the EU to consider new regulations which are likely to become clearer in the coming year; second, the EU is looking at distance selling and contract laws, which lie at the heart of e-commerce; and, finally, environmental issues are likely to move more centre stage over the next years.
