The Chairman of FEDMA, Emma Lawson, spoke Tuesday at the European Commission’s High-Level Conference on Postal Services, “Creating it together”.

She appealed to the European Commission, the national governments, the national postal regulators and the postal operators to take on board the 8 main points which postal users agree to:

  1. Fair and effective competition delivering new, improved and innovative choices to users;

  1. Well funded, strong, effective and independent regulators;

  1. Better value, with more competitive and transparent prices;

  1. Fewer technical and/or legal barriers to user access and choice;

  1. Viable and transparent, non-discriminatory and proportional Universal Service provision and coverage;
  1. Cost-orientated prices that improve the viability of the Universal Service provision, such as down-stream access;

  1. Member States governments positively supporting and promoting these reforms as essential to delivering a viable and exciting future for postal users, service providers and workers;

  1. Effective and early transposition of the Third Postal Directive.
